6 AFTERMARKET NOVEMBER 2023 www.aftermarketonline.net The Dublin Driving Dolls are the team from The UK Garage and Bodyshop Event (UKGBE), presented by Automechanika Birmingham, who will be taking on Bangers4Ben, being held 7-10 October across Ireland. The team will be taking on the 1,500-mile challenge in a Barbie-themed Citroen, which cost less than £750, as with all the teams. There is also a £1,050 entry fee. Post-event, all cars are auctioned off to raise even more funds for the charity. UKGBE has partnered with LKQ Euro Car Parts and established aftermarket business owners Louise Baker and Rachel Murray, who also teamed up with Automechanika Birmingham in 2019, and last year too. Louise owns independent garage, Womanic, while Rachel is a 25-year-old freelance refinisher. Riding shotgun with them will be Alex Jones, Marketing Director at Messe Frankfurt UK, organisers of Automechanika Birmingham and UKGBE, along with Karena Shahid, Regional Account Manager at LKQ Euro Car Parts. The new show, designed for the automotive aftermarket, will open its doors for the first time from 2-3 October 2024. Suppliers from across the industry are already signing up to be part of Aftermarket Event. In total, the show will include up to 150 exhibitors, with 50 speakers fielded across two theatres themed around the Top and Top Garage competitions. The event will also be co-located with another show, Safety, Health & Wellbeing Live.
