Participants receive a certificate after passing the final test. This qualification is based on the German DGUV regulations, which techs must have in Germany in order to be allowed to work on high-voltage vehicles. MEYLE’s Senior Technical Trainer Patrick Stüdemann believes the e-learning for high- voltage vehicles will offer added value to garages worldwide: "In order to keep up with the rising demand for electrified vehicles, expanding the expertise in the safe handling of high-voltage vehicles will make automotive workshops more competitive." He added: “The course content is not only highly relevant for all workshops in Germany but also across the globe, since the training covers all essential aspects, when dealing with a high-voltage vehicle.” MEYLE Academy also offers training on braking systems, intelligent repair solutions and oil changes for automatic transmissions. All AA patrols are already trained to IMI Level 1 equivalent, but they become IMI TechSafe-registered when they gain Level 2 accreditation. The IMI TechSafe Standards for those working on EVs are set by the IMI and endorsed by the government’s Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV). Training is being delivered at the AA’s own training centre, which has IMI Centre approval for the delivery of IMI Level 2, and at Autotech Training’s dedicated EV training facility in Milton Keynes. Autotech Training is currently getting over 100 AA patrols up to IMI Level 3. Autotech Training MD Colin Gleghorn said: “We are delighted to support the AA. The number of EVs on the road is rising and it is essential that patrols have the EV skill set to carry out any repair work safely.” AA Road Training Manager Nicholas Foxall added: “Combining our own bespoke training alongside Autotech Training’s electric vehicle training courses ensures that we can better prepare our patrols for ever-changing technologies.” For more information, visit: www.autotechtraining.co.uk AA calls on Autotech Training for IMI EV training Follow us on Facebook/aftermarketmagazine
