NEWS 6 AFTERMARKET OCTOBER 2021 www.aftermarketonline.net Aftermarket for the future theme for IAAF 2021 Virtual Conference Aftermarket for the Future will be the theme of the IAAF Virtual Conference 2021, taking place on Thursday 2 December. More than 300 attendees dialled in for the inaugural digital event in 2020, which stood in for the traditional live conference. Commenting on what’s in store, IAAF CEO Mark Field said: “The IAAF Virtual Conference 2021 will reflect the fact that wherever we look, we are counting down towards something very big affecting our sector, whether that be the 2023 Block Exemption Regulation expiry or the 2030 ban on new petrol and diesel vehicles.” More details on the IAAF speaker line- up and registration, will be announced shortly. TRICO and A1 £6,500 raised for charity by TRICO and A1 were able to raise £6,576 for charity Speed Of Sight during the summer through a pledge to donate £1 from every sale via A1 Motor Stores. Bolton-based Speed of Sight is run by blind race car driver and multiple World Record holder Mike Newman and his co- founder, John Galloway, and hosts driving days for disabled people. TRICO has been the headline sponsor of Speed Of Sight, which hosts driving experiences for children and adults with disabilities, since 2020 and along with the sponsorship money it has donated, staff also raised more than £1,000 for the charity in January 2021 by running 5km every single day of that month. TRICO’s Group Brand & Marketing Manager (Europe), Sam Robinson, said: “We’re thrilled with how this promotion has performed,so we’re looking into how we can make it even bigger and better.” CEO of Speed Of Sight Mike Newman added: “It really does mean the world to us and the money will go directly to hosting track days to give disabled people the chance to experience driving.” Motul at Goodwood Revival The Original Equipment Suppliers Aftermarket Association (OESAA) has teamed up with GROUPAUTO for the upcoming Autoinform Live event. The group will be supporting the training event, by encouraging workshops within its garage support programme, AutoCare, to redeem their training day allocation, subject to availability, at the event Garage Network Manager, AutoCare, Maria McCullough, said: “AutoCare is fully behind the Autoinform event and has supported it for a number of years. Training is the main part of the AutoCare programme, and anything that promotes and encourages the garages to keep up with technology and the ever-changing market is music to our ears.” OESAA Chairman Nigel Morgan added: “The weekend will provide tremendous value to workshops and their technicians, and it’s testament to GROUPAUTO that it has recognised the importance and value in face- to-face training and its members talking directly to the people behind the parts that they are fitting on a daily basis.” Autoinform Live is taking place at the GTG Training Academy in Wolverhampton on weekend of 6 – 7 November. Details are available at www.oe - suppliers.org/autoinform-groups Motul turned its attention to the Goodwood Motor Circuit and its Revival meeting recently, where the company has signed a major multi-year partnership. Motul’s presence at 2021’s Revival, from 17-19 September, was focused around the Motul Garage on the Goodwood Revival High Street, while the Circuit’s Infield also featured a Motul corner, where visitors could investigate Motul’s Vagabond historic truck. Motul’s mobile racing laboratory, housed inside a classic bus, was on hand as well, providing free oil sample analysis to competitors. The Goodwood Revival also featured a tribute to British motorsport marque BRM, which is presented by Motul. This included the 1974-5 BRM F1 cars that ran in Motul livery. Motul was also the presenting partner of the St Mary’s Trophy, one the weekend’s feature races. It features classic saloons, mainly from the 1950s, with everything from Austin A40s to Mk1 Jaguars and even a Ford Thunderbird - driven by top historic racers, who teamed up with touring car legends, Le Mans winners and F1 stars. Commenting on their presence at the show, Motul UK Country Manager Callum Goodland commented: “We are both proud and excited to be so involved with one of the UK’s greatest historic motoring events. There isn’t anything that compares with the Goodwood Revival, with its mixture of incredible historic racing and pageantry. “Motul has an incredible history and in this landmark year for Motul, we look forward to both further developing our partnership with Goodwood over the coming years, and to increasing Motul’s presence, in general, in the UK.” OESAA and GROUPAUTO announce AutoCare initiative
