Our product portfolio is designed to reflect the latest trends in the UK’s vehicle parc and offers over 90% coverage. We closely monitor demand for specific engine types and are constantly introducing new products to ensure our offering is always up-to-date.” On tips for garages fitting a reman engine, David observed: “Before fitting a replacement remanufactured unit, it is important to establish the cause of the original engine failure and to take remedial action where appropriate. Prior to installation, always visually check that the replacement engine is compatible with the unit it is replacing. It is also likely that the repalcement will be fitted with temporary transport items that will need to be exchanged with the equivalent items from the original engine prior to fitting. It is also good practice to thoroughly clean all ancilliary parts prior to refitting them onto the exchange unit. Finally, please always read the installation information provided.” Attributes Autoelectro’s UK sales manager Nick Hood continues to fly the flag for reman: “As a remanufacturer, whose brand is steeped in 35 years of history, we have a clear understanding of how the components go back together. To dismantle the old unit, diagnose why it originally failed and then fully rebuild it to at least its original specification takes experience, knowledge and resources – all attributes that the company has significantly invested in over the years. “We have a background of each individual part number, so if a technician encounters an issue, we are likely to be in a position where we can lend our expertise and resolve the issue before it happens again. We even go to the depths of offering a comprehensive feedback report on failures, meaning the technicians will have video evidence of our investigations – that depth of support is priceless. Ultimately, it is the workshop’s name above the door that is on the line when fitting components, whether it be a remanufactured component or a low-cost import. While the margin may be greater, should they go wrong, the reputation of that workshop is at risk.” Nick concluded: “Remanufacturing has become more complex over the years, with the introduction of ECU controlling, Stop/Start, and smart charging. These examples may test installers, but the experience and knowledge gained has meant we can assist them in many ways, whether it be workshop workouts, online technical support or a handy guide inside the box.” Remanufacturing enables a single part to have more than one life ”
